The Heartland Institute is a leading climate denial organization.
- Heartland Institute posted a video on their YouTube channel in May stating “the scientific data continue to show there is no climate crisis” and that there “is no scientific consensus that a climate crisis exists.”
- In June 2024, Frontline said of the Heartland Institute: “Few entities have worked harder to instill doubt in American minds about the science of climate change than the Heartland Institute. The self-styled “action tank” has published dozens of books and other media amplifying the voices of those who reject the scientific consensus on climate change. Last year, the libertarian organization mailed instructional materials questioning whether global warming is real to science teachers across the nation.”
In February 2023, The Heartland Institute sent copies of its book: Climate at a Glance to thousands of middle and high school teachers across the US. According to Grist.org: “Many of the sections acknowledge modest planetary warming, but assert that it is either good for species and ecosystems, or doesn’t really have the impacts on extreme weather events that climate scientists say it does.”
The Heartland Foundation is also a member of the Advisory Board of the notorious Trump Presidential Transition Project, Project 2025. The project is a blueprint for the Trump administration to use to set up their administration, should Trump be elected president. According to a University of Massachusetts Amherst poll taken in late July/early August 2024 found that more than half of Americans disapproved of the plan.
