What do Stolen Shoes, Hustler Porn Magazine, Multiple Lovers, and the Center for Biological Diversity have in common? Answer: Its founder.

Kieran Suckling, the founder of Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) once stole a pair of shoes.2 Now, he takes over $380,000 yearly as the top executive. And that’s not all. Suckling has put all three of his wives and even his ex-wife on the payroll. That’s right: Suckling’s generosity extends to employing his ex-wife, the former creative director at Hustler Magazine!

Those staff meetings must be interesting!

Five years after starting the Center for Biological Diversity Kieran Suckling stole hiking boots and bedroom slippers from Wal-Mart; he pled no contest and blamed his criminal activity on “poverty and stupidity” and a bad breakup. Now, after getting paid over $380,000 a year at a non-profit, Suckling has only moved on from one of his self-prescribed adjectives. Suckling’s…interest…in footwear was so notorious that locals began calling him “Shoeman”

CBD board members only suspended him for three months and later allied him to continue speaking to the media on behalf of the organization!

In the early days of CBD, Suckling put his wife, Stephanie Buffum, on the payroll.

Later, Suckling made sure CBD hired Lydia Millet, the former creative director of the graphic pornographic magazine, Hustler (and a George HW Bush romantasy author?). Suckling and Millet ended up getting married and then split in 2010, and Millet remains on the CBD payroll to this day.

And Suckling was not sulking for long…he hired Lori Ann Burd as a contract lawyer in 2014 and then as CBD’s Environmental Health Program Director, and married her, too!
